My colleague, Andrew Richards, and I have just finished writing a book covering all you’ll need to know on the basics of pattern drafting-dart manipulation is covered plus a whole lot more on cutting and sewing clothes. You can find it over on Amazon here:
If you keep checking back on this blog I may consider making a little tutorial in the future on this subject but if you are interested in making your own clothes I really can recommend the above title!
Jo,
Thanks so much for posting this page – I presume it’s from your book, which I’ll be ordering next pay period, after tonight’s little adventure. I needed to make a jacket collar at 2am for my daughter’s cosplay event due 6 hours later. I’ve now completed the boxy (unlined!) jacket, which I started drafting at 8:40 pm, and finished sewing at 3:25am. This was the ONLY coherent instruction I could find for the mandarin collar she needed. I’ve been drafting and sewing for years, but never had to make a mandarin collar, and you certainly saved her day for her! The only instructions I could find in the 4(!!!) drafting books I own were completely incomprehensible.
Thank you Donny, I’m happy to be of help… but I bet your daughter was even happier with your nights work! Yes this is an example technique from the book: I hope you find more of interest if you do buy it.
